Gayle poised for return next month – a boost for Newcastle?

Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle has returned to first-team training after missing the start of the season through injury.

According to The Telegraph, Gayle is expected to be ready for Premier League action next month, having just come back from his knock.

Will his return be a big boost for Newcastle?

Certainly. Newcastle have only scored four goals in six Premier League games and are in dire need of reinforcements at the top end of the pitch. Gayle is a proven goalscorer, after bagging 23 goals for West Brom on loan in the Championship last season.

He also found the back of the net six times in the Premier League during Newcastle’s 2017/18 campaign, proving that he is capable of scoring goals at this level.

Steve Bruce could look to play Gayle up alongside Joelinton to offer the Brazilian forward more support in the final third. Joelinton has only scored once since his move from Hoffenheim and has often been isolated in games due to Newcastle’s lack of attacking threat.
