Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow expects to be handed a new contract by the club before the end of the season.
According to The Chronicle, via HITC, Darlow believes that he will still be at the club come the start of the 2020/21 campaign, despite his contract expiring next summer.
The report claims that Darlow is happy at Newcastle playing second fiddle to first-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Should Newcastle give Darlow a new contract?

Yes. Whilst Darlow has not shown that he is capable of ousting Dubravka from the side, you cannot underestimate the importance of having a back-up goalkeeper who is happy to fill the role.
Darlow will be pushing Dubravka, of course, but also clearly understands that he is the second choice and is willing to do it, which makes him a valuable asset. He also has years of experience with the club and has impressed with his performances at times.
It would also allow Newcastle more money to spend on other areas of the squad, as signing Darlow up to a new contract will – of course – cost less than splashing out on a transfer fee to bring another shot-stopper into the club next summer.
