Newcastle keen on signing a new goalkeeper – is it needed?

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have held meetings over potential business in the next window and bringing in a shot-stopper was among the topics that were discussed.

If Newcastle are able to ship Darlow and/or Elliot out of the door in January, signing a goalkeeper to bolster the squad would be a wise move by the club. Dubravka is currently the undisputed number one, but further competition could drive him on to progress even further as an individual.

Dubravka has been in fine form this season, despite a mistake against Liverpool, and was able to come away with a clean sheet against Brighton over the weekend. Steve Bruce will be hoping that he can continue to impress between the sticks and ease any urgent need to sign a shot-stopper in the January window.
