Newcastle are considering a January swoop for RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen to bolster their attacking options.
According to The Express, via HITC, Newcastle have held a long-standing interest in Poulsen and could make a move for him in the next transfer window.
The report also claims that they may face Premier League competition in the form of Marco Silva’s Everton, who are also keen on the forward.

Would Poulsen be an excellent signing for Newcastle?

Absolutely. Poulsen scored 19 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season, despite playing second fiddle to German international Timo Werner, and has notched once so far in the current campaign.
The Danish international has the physical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and is adept at aerial duels and holding the ball up, which could greatly benefit Newcastle’s attacking play.
Steve Bruce’s side have only scored four goals in six Premier League games, with record signing Joelinton managing one so far. The Brazilian has also missed a number of glorious opportunities in the air, which Poulsen may have been able to make more out of.
Signing Poulsen would be a huge statement of intent from Newcastle, given his sublime form for a top Bundesliga club last term. It would also show faith in Steve Bruce from Mike Ashley in the board to give him further funds to strengthen his squad.
