Newcastle are concerned that forward Andy Carroll will not be able to start a game for the club until January.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle fear that they may have to wait until after Christmas for him to be fit enough to start.
The report claims that it is due to the severity of his ankle injury, despite coming off the bench against Brighton at the weekend.

Is this a big blow for Newcastle?

Not necessarily. Carroll is clearly able to be used off the bench for the next few months, which could still prove crucial for Newcastle as they look to amass enough points to stay in the league.
Joelinton has scored once in six games since joining from Hoffenheim for a club-record fee, so Carroll’s influence off the bench could hand Steve Bruce the extra firepower he needs to push the club up the table.
Newcastle are currently sat 17th in the league and have scored four goals in six games so far. Carroll will now be hoping to score his first goal back at the club as quickly as possible to get himself off the mark for the second time in Newcastle colours in his career.
