Newcastle remain just above the bottom three as they held Brighton to a 0-0 draw at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Brighton controlled the game, but failed to take their chances as Newcastle held in for a point. The closest Brighton came was when Fabian Schar was forced to incredible clear a goal-bound shot off the line in the second half.
These Newcastle fans reacted to the clearance…
High praise!
Twitter: Just seen Schar’s clearance. The defenders equivalent of that Cisse goal against Chelsea ? #NUFC (@Mr_Brewtastic)
Hmmm…
Twitter: ASM’s impact, Carroll getting some minutes and Schar’s goal line clearance were the only positives today. #NUFC (@jacknufc_99)
Best thing!
Twitter: The clearance off the line is by far the best thing any of the #NUFC team has done today Schar ! (@ElectriCheese)

READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT
In a game lacking in quality throughout, Schar produced perhaps the only one for Newcastle. The Swiss defender sprinted back to reach the ball and divert it away from danger just as Brighton appeared destined to take the lead.
It earned Newcastle a point in the end, just as Schar did with his goal against Watford at St. James’ Park last month, yet again proving his importance to the club.
Schar has been in excellent form and will need to be at his best throughout the campaign to give Steve Bruce’s side a chance of staying in the division come the end of the season.
