# These Newcastle fans react to Carroll’s debut

Andy Carroll made his long-awaited second debut for Newcastle on Saturday as the club held Brighton to a 0-0 draw at St. James’ Park.

The forward came off the bench in the second-half, his first appearance since joining the club on a free transfer over the summer.

After the game, Carroll took to Twitter to praise the fans on the reception they gave him.

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Carroll had little to work with after coming on, with Newcastle struggling to get into the match against Brighton. Steve Bruce’s side were able to keep Brighton’s attack at bay, but failed to impose themselves on the game in an attacking sense and were unable to create any real chances of note.

Bruce is sure to be delighted that Carroll is now back fit and available for selection ahead of the upcoming Premier League games, as he looks to challenge Joelinton for his place up front. Joelinton has scored once in six Premier League games so far for Newcastle.
