Schar fit for Brighton match – a massive boost for Newcastle

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that defender Fabian Schar is fit to start against Brighton this weekend.

Schar was forced off in the second-half against Liverpool in Newcastle’s 3-1 defeat last weekend, leading to concerns over his fitness for this match.

Speaking to The Chronicle, Bruce revealed that Schar is available, among a number of other injury updates.

Is Schar being fit a massive boost for the club?

Yes. The Swiss defender has been in good form this season, despite just four points on the board, and is already off the mark for goals – scoring in the 1-1 draw with Watford.

Schar, as an individual, has defended well – winning his headers, making key tackles and interceptions – and will be a huge asset for the club this season in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce will, no doubt, be delighted to have Schar available for the game, to potentially start alongside Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett in a back three against Brighton.
