Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff has admitted that Matt Ritchie helps to keep him grounded amid transfer speculation.
He has revealed that he leans on Ritchie, to help him with the other side of the game people tend not to think about – the player’s personal life.

Longstaff’s comments are further proof that Ritchie is an excellent professional who has a huge impact on and off the pitch at Newcastle.
However, Jamaal Lascelles is the captain – and rightly so – which means that calls for Ritchie to be given the armband are slightly misguided. You can have leaders all across the pitch, regardless of who the official captain is, and Steve Bruce will be delighted that he has several of them in his side.
Bruce will also be hoping that Ritchie can return to the side as quickly as possible, with the Scotsman currently out with an injury.
