Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has, bizarrely, claimed that his club’s recent history is superior to Newcastle’s.
Woodgate claims that, due to Middlesbrough reaching a UEFA Cup final, their history is better than their rival’s.

It was very strange of Woodgate to start mentioning Newcastle and history when he was not asked a question about it, as Middlesbrough manager.
Woodgate has had a tough start to life as a manager, with Middlesbrough currently sat 18th in the Championship. He has won just once in the league, with two draw and three defeats in his first six matches.
The former Real Madrid centre-back could just be trying to win over the fans with a dig at the club’s rivals after his worrying start to the campaign, although that won’t work for long if they continue to pick up poor results…
