These Newcastle fans react to Carroll training with the first-team

Newcastle have confirmed that striker Andy Carroll has joined up with the first-team for training as he looks to make his return from injury.

Carroll has been nursing an ankle injury since joining the club on a free transfer from West Ham over the summer, but appears to be edging closer to his return.

READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

A return to full training for Carroll certainly indicates that he his recovery is progressing nicely, having not featured for the club since his move last month.

The former Liverpool and West Ham striker, however, will have to beat off competition from Joelinton to start when he is fit. Joelinton has scored once in four Premier League appearances so far, but has impressed with his hold-up play in recent matches.

Carroll could now be in contention to face Brighton at St. James’ Park next week if he continues to train with the first-team without any further issues regarding his ankle injury.
