Newcastle are keen to hand a new long-term contract to influential midfielder Isaac Hayden.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle worked hard to keep Hayden at St. James’ Park over the summer.
The report claims that he is now settled down and more open to the idea of signing a new deal with the club.

Is Hayden one of the club’s best players?

On performances in 2019, absolutely. Hayden has been a fixture in Newcastle’s starting line-up since the turn of the year and been superb in the middle of the park.
His excellent displays in holding midfield under Rafa Benitez certainly did not go unnoticed by Steve Bruce, who has started him in all four games so far this season – which goes to show how important he already is to Bruce in this Newcastle side.
Hayden has formed a strong partnership with academy midfielder Sean Longstaff, and was key in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Tottenham – making a number of crucial interceptions and tackles to keep Spurs at bay throughout the game.
He is as important to this team as any other, including the likes of Martin Dubravka and Fabian Schar.
