# Newcastle eyeing Benrahma swoop – would he be a good signing?

Newcastle United are weighing up a January swoop for Brentford star Said Benrahma as they look to bolster their squad.

[According to The Shields Gazette](https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/the-nine-players-newcastle-united-could-target-in-january-including-two-championship-stars-and-a-czech-republic-international-541412?page=2), Newcastle are considering a move for Benrahma in the next transfer window.

The report claims that Newcastle were keen on a deal for the Algerian in the summer, but were unable to strike a deal with the Championship club.

Would Benrahma be a good signing for Newcastle?

Absolutely. The attacking midfielder is an excellent technician and would add extra quality and flair to Steve Bruce’s options behind Joelinton.

In the Championship last season, Benrahma registered an impressive 10 goals and 14 assists for a midtable Brentford side – also averaging, by [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/137021/History/Sa%C3%AFd-Benrahma), 2.4 key passes per game.

His creativity in the middle of the park could help Newcastle’s stuttering attack, with Bruce’s side having only scored three goals in their four games so far – although there are plenty of games to play before the January window opens for business.
