Newcastle enjoyed a solid 2018/19 campaign as they finished 13th in the Premier League under the management of Rafa Benitez.
The Toon were able to stay up in the top-flight for a second season in succession, following their promotion from the Championship in 2017.
However, Rafa Benitez left the club over the summer with Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce coming in to replace him. Bruce has managed four points from his first four Premier League games in charge of the club, with Newcastle sat 14th in the table.
With the start of the season also comes the launch of the latest edition of FIFA, with FIFA 20 set to drop later this month.
Ahead of release, FIFA website FutWiz have revealed all of the player ratings from the new game – including Newcastle’s entire squad.
We have taken a look through the ratings and picked out five things EA need to change…
Since the start of last season, Schar has scored six goals for club and country from centre-back. On FIFA 20, he has been given 67 for shooting, with nine Newcastle players ranked better – including Almiron who is yet to score this year. His finishing should be higher, given his goal record over the past 18 months.
Longstaff being a Silver
Newcastle academy graduate Sean Longstaff has been given a rating of just 72, despite being a regular in Steve Bruce’s midfield. He is playing ahead of Jonjo Shelvey and Ki Sung Yeung, who are both higher rated than him on the game. Interesting…
Almiron has been given an 80-rated card, which makes him the club’s highest-rated player alongside Martin Dubravka. This is despite the attacking midfielder failing to score or assist a single goal since his move to the club in January. On the basis of the last nine months, it appears as though EA have got this one wrong.
Jamaal Lascelles' rating
Lascelles has been a reliable member of Newcastle’s squad for a number of years now and been a consistent performer in the Premier League. Despite his strong year last term, he has not been given an upgrade. This is one EA may have gotten wrong.
Manquillo lower than Yedlin
Javier Manquillo has been given a rating of 74, despite DeAndre Yedlin receiving a 76-rated card. However, Manquillo ousted Yedlin from the team last season and was a solid performer at right-back for Rafa Benitez. On that evidence, he should be a higher rating than the American.
