# These Newcastle fans beg Schar to stay after Switzerland performance

Newcastle’s Fabian Schar scored for Switzerland in their 1-1 draw with Ireland on Thursday night.

The defender coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner after a flowing move from the Swiss, and posted this on Twitter after the game.

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Of course, there is no way to predict the future or force Fabian Schar to stay at Newcastle for the rest of his career – even if Toon fans may wish otherwise!

For the moment, though, Schar is very much a Newcastle player and one that the fans can enjoy watching for the rest of the season – at least – as long as he continues to perform at the back for Steve Bruce’s side.

He caught the eye against Watford last weekend with a calm finish inside the box and was solid against Spurs as Newcastle picked up a 1-0 win and a clean sheet in North London.
