Former Newcastle striker Michael Owen has been the talk of the town this week following the release of his latest book.
The current BT pundit spoke about his time at Newcastle in the book and claimed that he never wanted to sign for the club, instead wanting a return to Liverpool – which never materialised.
Mike Parry took to Twitter to lay into Owen and claim that he was a mercenary during his time at Newcastle.
Twitter: I think it’s pretty poor form for @themichaelowen to speak as he has done about @NUFC and their fans .. a bad examp… https://t.co/Qy5TlWeHjA (@mikeparry8)
These Newcastle fans reacted to his Tweet…
Wasn’t as good as he thinks…

READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT
Owen’s comments can simply be seen as a way of gaining publicity to sell more copies of his book, drumming up interest by making controversial claims and intriguing the public enough to go and read the rest of it.
However, that does not mean that his comments were not completely disrespectful towards Newcastle. To come out and say that you didn’t want to join one of your former clubs shows a lack of class and that he holds no respect for Newcastle.
