It has been revealed that no team has had more empty seats this season in the Premier League than Newcastle United.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle’s stadium has been 87.7% full this term, the first time it has dropped below 90% since the 2009/10 campaign.

Whilst there is no way to definitively prove why fans have stopped attending, you could link it to Rafa Benitez leaving the club and former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce being appointed.
Going from a former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss to one sacked by Aston Villa around this time last year, on paper, appears to be quite the downgrade for Newcastle.
Bruce has mustered up four points from four games in the Premier League so far this season, which is a reasonable return given the fact they have faced Tottenham and Arsenal during that time.
If Bruce can continue to pick up good results, it will surely entice more and more fans to return to St. James’ Park and increase the attendance.
