# Lejeune set to step up injury recovery – danger for Lascelles?

Newcastle defender Florian Lejeune is set to step up his recovery from his ACL injury this week.

According to injury analyst Ben Dinnery, Lejeune is waiting to get the all-clear from the specialist he has been seeing about his injury.

Lejeune has not played for Newcastle since April, when he sustained an ACL knee injury during a Premier League clash.

Can Lejeune force his way back into the starting line up at Newcastle?

If he is able to perform to the same level he did last season, it is very possible. If you compare his displays last term to current centre-back Jamaal Lascelles, he outperformed the Newcastle skipper.

WhoScored gave Lejeune an average rating of 6.95/10, compared to Lascelles’ 6.80/10, which suggests that he was performing at a higher level than the former Nottingham Forest centre-back.

If he can get back to that level, whilst Lascelles also fails to improve, Steve Bruce may consider bringing him into the starting line-up alongside Fabian Schar and Paul Dummett at the back in the Premier League.
