Valencia eyeing Manquillo deal – should they sell?

Valencia eyeing Manquillo deal – should they sell?

Spanish giants Valencia are eyeing up a potential swoop for Newcastle defender Javier Manquillo this week.

According to Spanish outlet Levante EMV, via The Chronicle, Valencia are looking to bring in a right-back ahead of their transfer deadline on Monday and have identified Manquillo as a target.

The report claims that Cristiano Piccini, Valencia’s first-choice right-back, is set to miss the next five months through injury, resulting in their interest in Manquillo.

Should Newcastle cash in on Manquillo and let him join Valencia this week?

No. Newcastle should look to keep hold of the right-back and keep him in the squad until January, at least.

With Emil Krafth potentially out for this weekend’s clash with Watford and DeAndre Yedlin only now returning from a lengthy injury, Steve Bruce may need to call upon Manquillo to start over the next few weeks.

Allowing him to sign for Valencia would potentially leave Newcastle worryingly short at right-back, which could then cost them points in the Premier League. With Newcastle’s transfer window having ended earlier this month, they would not be able to bring in a replacement for the Spanish defender.
