These Newcastle fans were bemused by Ayoze Perez boos

Newcastle were knocked out of the League Cup on Wednesday night as they lost 4-2 to Leicester on penalties.

Steve Bruce’s side held Leicester to a 1-1 draw in normal time, with James Maddison and Yoshi Muto scoring the goals.

There was also a reunion for Ayoze Perez, who returned to St. James’ Park for the first time since his move to Leicester in the summer.

Perez spent five good years with Newcastle and racked up almost 200 appearances for the club in all competitions. He scored 48 goals and netted 12 times in the Premier League last season.

He joined Leicester for £30m, after they finished in the top 10 last term, which can be seen as a big step up from Newcastle.

There are virtually no reasons to justify booing the forward, although you could argue that it is a byproduct of younger fans being in the crowd – due to it being a cup game.
