# These Newcastle fans react to horrific challenge on Ritchie

Newcastle were left frustrated on Wednesday as they were knocked out of the League Cup by Leicester.

Steve Bruce’s side lost on penalties after drawing 1-1 in normal time, with Muto equalising after James Maddison gave the Foxes the lead.

There was also an unfortunate moment for Matt Ritchie, as he was forced off the pitch after a nasty challenge from Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Hamza Choudhury went in for a full-blooded tackle and certainly got some of the ball, but also plenty of the man.

He can find himself fortunate not to have seen red, with the referee deciding to only show him the yellow card on the night.

Steve Bruce has claimed that he has three separate cuts on his ankle that need stitches. He will now be hoping that the midfielder can return after the international break.
