# These Newcastle fans laud Almiron’s work rate against Tottenham

Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron has had a tough time in the Premier League since his move to the club from Atlanta in January 2019.

The attacking midfielder has so far failed to score or assist a single goal in the league, which suggests that he is struggling to adapt to life in England.

However, he caught the eye in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Spurs with a hard-working defensive performance in midfield.

These Newcastle fans reacted to his display on Twitter…

Pete was impressed!

> Twitter: I’m sure I saw Almiron do an almost full lap of the pitch at one point from attack to defence without stopping till… https://t.co/YdSX4hMxUt (@GallowgatePete)

Does he deserve a goal?

> Twitter: Really want almiron to get a goal soon. He deserves it after the amount of effort he put in yesterday #nufc (@AndyhHiggins89)

He can certainly run!

> Twitter: Not seeing the 90 minutes, am I right in think Almiron particularly ran his knackers off yesterday #nufc (@Lee18\_92Johnson)

Is he the fittest player at the club?

> Twitter: Almiron is the fittest player at the club. Unbelievable tank on him. #nufc (@newyorkmagpie)

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Almiron worked his socks off in midfield and helped cover at fullback when needed to counter against overlaps from Tottenham down their left, which contributed to Newcastle’s excellent defending.

The midfielder did, however, give the ball away sloppily at times and his touch was too heavy under pressure. With zero goal contributions for the club, his end product does need to be questioned. However, no one can knock his work rate after his showing against Spurs, as he left it all out on the pitch.

Steve Bruce will now be hoping that he can affect the play for Newcastle in the final third, rather than just impressing defensively – given that he is an attacking midfielder.
