Newcastle Player Ratings: Tottenham (A)

After losing their first two matches, Newcastle United registered their maiden win of the Premier League by beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their own backyard.

A 27th-minute strike from the Magpies’ record signing Joelinton made the difference as they beat Spurs in North London for the first time since 2015.

Mauricio Pochettio’s side tried very hard to find an equaliser but thanks to a brilliant showing by Newcastle’s backline, they were unable to do so.

All in all, it was a terrific performance from the Magpies who needed a result like this really badly following their defeats to Arsenal and Norwich City. An early win over one of the best teams in the Premier League is bound to boost the spirits of Steve Bruce’s team as the season progresses.

The Magpies next face Leicester City on Wednesday in a League Cup encounter before resuming their campaign against Watford on Saturday.

Now, we will take a look at how the Newcastle players fared against Spurs today.
