Dubravka named in Team of the Weekend – does he deserve it?

TalkSport have named their Premier League Team of the Weekend following the third set of fixtures of the season.

Newcastle beat Tottenham 1-0 on Sunday, in one of the biggest shocks across the game week – along with Crystal Palace winning 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Two members of Newcastle’s side have been included in the team, with Martin Dubravka and Paul Dummett making the side.

Does Dubravka deserve his place in the side?

No. He did not have a poor game, of course, but Newcastle’s clean sheet, and win, was more down to the defenders in front of him.

Dubravka did not make a single save that you would not expect a Premier League standard shot-stopper to make, whilst he also presented Lucas Moura with a golden chance in the first-half as he flapped at a cross.

Meanwhile, former Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul impressed for Norwich and Kasper Schmeichel made a world-class save to win Leicester three points against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Despite Dubravka’s clean sheet, there were others simply more deserving of a place in the line-up.
