Newcastle forward Yoshinori Muto is pushing in training to land a place in the starting XI this week.

According to Lee Ryder, of The Chronicle, Muto is working hard in training to break into the side, although he claims that he did not show much against Norwich at the weekend.

Newcastle travel away to face Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, but should Steve Bruce hand Muto a start?

Club-record signing Joelinton has failed to impress in his first two games for the club and went off with an injury against Norwich, which suggests that he could be a doubt for the game in North London.

This means that it could be the perfect time for Muto to come in and show what he is capable of doing. With Spurs being a top-four side, there should be no pressure on Newcastle to come away with a result, which could give Bruce a license to experiment with his starting XI.

Muto could produce an excellent performance and nail down a place in the side for the coming weeks, but worst comes to worse Newcastle lose at Spurs – is that really all that bad?

Should Muto start on Sunday?
