# Sutton furious with Dummett’s comments – does he have a point?

BT Sport and BBC Radio 5 pundit Chris Sutton was furious with Newcastle defender Paul Dummett for his comments at the weekend.

The left-back claimed that the warm-up prior to the game with Norwich “wasn’t right”, with Sutton now hitting out at the Newcastle player.

[Speaking on BBC Radio 5,](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/08/22/chris-sutton-expresses-his-anger-towards-comments-made-by-newcas/) Sutton said this:

> What about a little bit of self-responsibility then. Why come out publicly and say that? I think that’s a disgrace, I really, really do.

> It’s made me angry actually this Paul Dummett comment about warming up, ‘the warm-up wasn’t right’. I mean come on! Warm yourself up!

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Does Sutton have a point?

Yes he does. With all the talk about Steve Bruce and Newcastle’s two losses at the start of the season, the last thing the club needed was a player to come out and publicly criticise the manager – regardless of his intentions.

Dummett played as part of a back three, or five depending on how you want to look at it, and struggled to deal with the threat of Norwich’s Teemu Pukki.

The Finland international scored three as Norwich beat Newcastle 3-1 at Carrow Road, putting further pressure on Bruce with a trip to face Tottenham up next for the Magpies.
