Alex Bruce, son of Steve, has caused a stir amongst Newcastle fans on social media in the wake of the club’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.
The defender called out ‘lazy journalism’ after Craig Hope of the Daily Mail labelled the decision to bring on Jetro Willems as ‘clumsy’.
The Dutchman’s introduction was one of the key talking points from the defeat after it emerged that he didn’t even know which position he was being brought on to play.
A number of fans were not so forgiving on Twitter in reaction to Alex’s tweet.

Any of that ‘new season optimism’ was quickly dashed away from Newcastle supporters during the second half against Arsenal and it’s easy to understand their frustrations.
The Willems fiasco really summed up the disastrous second half for the Magpies.
He would have no doubt been keen to make a good impression on his Newcastle debut, but it couldn’t have gone much worse for him.
To be brought on and not know where you’re playing highlights a clear lack of leadership on Bruce’s part that needs to be rectified very quickly if Newcastle want to enjoy any success this season.
