There was a sudden moment of realisation for Newcastle supporters as they sat watching Norwich’s opening game of the season against Liverpool.
Former Newcastle defender Grant Hanley found himself in the headlines with a moment to forget as he put the ball in his own net to give Liverpool the lead.
The mistake set the tone for Norwich, with the Reds going on to score four on the night.
In an attempt to defend a wicked cross from Divock Origi, Hanley sliced the ball backwards and past Trim Krul into his own.
The questionable act of defending has certainly gone down well with some Newcastle supports on Twitter, taking them back to a time when he would be playing in black and white.

This really was a moment to forget for Hanley. His footwork was all over the place and he was left with no option as he tried to clear the ball.
It’s easy to forget that it really wasn’t that long ago that Hanley was turning out for Newcastle.
When you look at the player’s performance at Anfield, supporters may just feel that little bit more fortunate to line up with the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune in their backline.
