Newcastle have reportedly been offered the chance to land Lille midfielder Thiago Maia and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe before the window closes – are they two deals that need to be pushed through?
According to The Chronicle, cited by HITC, the Magpies have been offered the chance to sign the pair by the player’s respective agents, however, wage problems and time limits could see the club focus on alternative targets.

St James’ Park looks set to be a busy destination on Thursday, with numerous incomings and outgoing expected on Tyneside. But should the club pass up on the opportunity to sign the duo?

The two players certainly have the quality to fit into Bruce’s squad.
Holding midfielder Maia has been a key player for current club Lille in recent years. The 22-year-old has been tipped by many in Brazil to become a national team regular, and his willingness to get on the ball and retain possession is something that would be greatly welcomed at St James’ Park.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool winger Ibe would bring plenty of flair and creativity to the club. He’s still just 23 and already has a wealth of Premier League experience. Ibe could prove to be the missing piece of Bruce’s attacking jigsaw, alongside Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Magpies will pursue either deal before the window closes, however, they could be two moves the club need to make ahead of the new season.
