Pre-season is done and dusted, with attention quickly turning to the new Premier League campaign which is now just days away.
Newcastle have enjoyed a relatively successful pre-season after some of the initial uncertainty. With concerns over the managerial situation and transfers both in and out of the club, this summer had the potential to spiral out of control.
A heavy defeat to Wolves got the summer off to the worst possible start on the pitch, but wins against West Ham, Hibernian and Saint-Etienne make for far better reading.
There were a number of players who would have returned over the summer with a point to prove, while some just needed to hit the ground running after joining the club or returning from injury.
