Ahmed Elmohamady has emerged as a potential transfer target for Steve Bruce, but the Newcastle boss should look to avoid a summer reunion.
Football Insider reports that the club have their eyes on Elmohamady and Swedish defender Emil Krafth as they look to add to their right-back options.
If they fail in deals to sign either of the two, Rangers’ James Tavernier could be the alternative that they turn to, but should they be prioritising a move for the Rangers man ahead of the aforementioned duo?

Tavernier has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and a deal to re-sign the player would be one that signals much more ambition compared to Elmohamady.
Elmohamady is a player that Bruce has worked very closely with throughout his managerial and someone he knows well.

Why you could argue he’s a reliable, experienced defender, Tavernier’s set-piece ability and attacking nature would give Newcastle a new dynamic edge going forward.
Tavernier is coming off the back of a stunning season under Steven Gerrard, scoring 17 goals and assisting a further 20 in all competitions.
As the designated penalty taker, goal statistics can be slightly misleading, but regardless of that, his numbers from last season are an incredible return for a right-back.
If Bruce is keen to pursue a 3-5-2 system at Newcastle, he could slot in brilliantly on the right and add a new element to the club’s attack, while also being a steady figure at the back.
