The immediate future of Javier Manquillo remains up for debate as we approach the final days of the summer transfer window.
It has been suggested by the Chronicle that the player could yet leave on loan, despite his impressive performances throughout pre-season.
The Spaniard has been catching the eye in recent weeks and despite that, there are some suggestions he could be on the move – but would it be a mistake on Newcastle’s part?

This would have to be considered as a risky move from Bruce and Newcastle. Manquillo has looked very sharp recently and while you can never read too much into pre-season performances, he has shown himself to be a worthy alternative to DeAndre Yedlin.

While he may not be a player that is going to get fans off their seat, he is a dependable option to call upon with Premier League experience under his belt, something that wouldn’t be guranteed in a potential replacement that could come through the door.
It doesn’t quite add up from a Newcastle perspective unless the player himself is actively pushing for a move, the club should look to prioritise their time and resources into other areas of the squad that still need strengthening.
