Newcastle supporters got another up close and personal look at Matty Longstaff during the club’s final pre-season friendly over the weekend.
The midfielder has been one of the surprise packages in the build-up to the new Premier League season and some now think he could be in line for a first-team spot.
The youngster scored a stunning goal just moments after coming off the bench during the club’s win over Saint-Etienne and judging by the reaction of some supporters on social media, he’s a player that is set to excite a lot of fans in the years to come.

Longstaff has enjoyed a pre-season to remember and he has certainly done his first-team chances no harm at all.

Steve Bruce could be more inclined to give younger players a chance compared to Rafa Benitez and with Sean Longstaff also looking set to stay at the club, his younger brother could be the next name to break onto the scene.
The club have been patient with Sean and they should take the exact same approach with Matty. The raw talent is there and if they harness the potential he is showing, the two brothers could go on to become key players in this Newcastle side for years to come.
