Newcastle linked with shock Khedira deal – is this a realistic move?

Newcastle are being linked with a shock move to sign Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira – but is this a reasonable deal the club can expect to complete?

According to reports in Italy, as cited on the Shields Gazzette, Newcastle United and Wolves have been both credited with an interest in the player who looks set to leave Turin this summer.

As a former World Cup and Champions League winner, this would certainly be a shock deal and not one that we’d expect to see go through this summer.

Khedira would offer any side a wealth of experience and he’s unlikely to be short of offers if he is to leave Juventus.

It’s a transfer rumour that doesn’t quite add up. If it was a deal that would be financially possible for then club then it really is a no brainer. However, that is extremely unlikely.

Newcastle would surely struggle to match his wage demands and it would go against the transfer policy that Mike Ashley has stuck so closely to over recent years.

Supporters should avoid reading too much into this one, regardless of how exciting it could be to add such a decorated player to the squad.

matchday.
