Newcastle slumped to an embarrassing defeat in the Asia Trophy, going down 4-0 to Wolves in Nanjing.
The game was the first played since Steve Bruce was appointed as Newcastle boss, but the former Sunderland manager won’t take charge until the Magpies next fixture in the tournament.
Diego Jota put Wolves in front after 15 minutes, scoring through a deflected effort.
Morgan Gibbs-White would add a second for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side not long after, before Jota scored his second of the evening just before half time.
Newcastle looked completely outclassed before the break, and it continued to get worse in the second half.
An own goal from Tom Allan rounded out the defeat, meaning that Newcastle can no longer win the Asia Trophy.
They will play the loser of the game between Manchester City and West Ham next, with that game being Steve Bruce’s first game in charge of Newcastle United.
Here is how we rated the Magpies after the defeat.
