Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Manchester United striker Mipo Odubeko – but should the Magpies make a move?
According to Sky Sports, Odubeko has rejected a new contract offer at Old Trafford and looks set to leave this summer.
Newcastle are one of five sides interested in the teenager, with fellow Premier League outfit Burnley, Dutch sides Feyenoord and Utrecht and Serie A side Genoa all keen on the forward’s services.
Newcastle are still continuing to search for a new manager after Rafael Benitez left St James’ Park, however, that shouldn’t play a factor in the Magpies’ potential pursuit of the Republic of Ireland Under 17 international.
Odubeko is regarded as a future star and could even break into the Newcastle first-team at some point next season if he makes the move to Tyneside.
Newcastle recently sold Ayoze Perez to Premier League rivals Leicester City, so replacing the Spaniard is a must ahead of the new campaign.
Although Odubeko wouldn’t be an immediate replacement for Perez, the Manchester United man has been tipped for big things, so would seemingly lead the line for Newcastle at some point.
The club would more than likely have to pay the Red Devils a compensation package if they were to sign the 16-year-old, a deal which could prove to be an excellent piece of business in the long run.
