Perez was Newcastle’s top goalscorer last season as he found the back of the net 12 times in the Premier League.
However, he now appears set to leave the club in the same week as manager Rafa Benitez – who moved to China upon the expiry of his Newcastle contract.
Here are some potential replacements for Perez that Newcastle could look at this summer…
Neal Maupay
The French forward is similar to Perez in the sense that he is versatile and can play in a variety of positions. He scored 28 goals for Brentford in the Championship last season.
Said Benrahma
The Algerian would be a superb replacement for Perez. Benrahma was sensational for Brentford last season and would be an ideal signing for the Toon Army.
Manuel Lazzari
The Italian would be a top signing for Newcastle if they could bring him over to England. Lazzari caught the eye whilst playing for SPAL last season in the Serie A.
Kostas Fortounis
Fortounis has been linked with fellow Premier League sides Norwich and West Ham. The Greek international would add more creativity to the Newcastle midfield, for sure.
Manuel Lanzini
Following West Ham’s signing of Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals, they could be tempted to part ways with Lanzini. He would be a top signing for Newcastle if they could pull it off.
Phil Foden
Newcastle could attempt to convince Manchester City that a year out on loan for Foden would be best for his development. The English midfielder is one of the best young prospects in the world at the moment.
Emile Smith-Rowe
The talented young attacking midfielder could be a good option for Newcastle. Arsenal may look to loan him out again, after struggling at Leipzig due to injuries. He would add something different to Newcastle’s midfield.
Ollie Watkins
Watkins impressed for Brentford in the Championship last season and can play out wide, in the ten role or as a striker. The English forward would be a shrewd addition to their squad.
