Newcastle are reportedly close to agreeing personal terms over a deal to sign Nice’s Allan Saint-Maximin, but would he be a good signing for the club?

According to Nice-Matin, as cited by Get French Football News, the player is close to agreeing personal terms, despite the fact the two clubs have not yet reached an agreement over a potential fee.

The arrival of Saint-Maximin would certainly soften the blow of Rafa Benitez leaving and could possibly tell you a little bit more about the direction the club could be heading in terms of the Spaniard’s replacement.

Saint-Maximin is one of the more highly rated young stars in France and at just 22 years of age, the best is yet to come from the player.

He scored six goals last season in Ligue 1 and would certainly add an extra attacking edge to this Newcastle side.

Alongside Miguel Almiron, who will hope to be fully up and running in the Premier League next season, Newcastle could have a very promising attacking duo in their line-up.

With an eye for goal too, this could be a brilliant signing if both clubs can reach an agreement.

Would Saint-Maximin be a good signing for Newcastle?
