Manchester United are reportedly set to make an opening offer for Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff before the weekend, so is it finally time for the Magpies to cash in?
Nick Mashiter reports that the Premier League big boys are ready to step up their interest in the midfielder.
Losing such a key player would be a body blow for United and Rafa Benitez, but could there be a silver lining for all parties?
It has been widely reported that Benitez, should he stay, will be working on limited budgets at Newcastle once again.

There have been no suggestions on what kind of fee Newcastle would be demanding, but you can imagine that Longstaff would not be sold on the cheap.
With the club needing to add to their squad this summer, any big money bids that come in could go a long way to reinvesting in the playing staff.
Benitez will no doubt be eager to build his time around Longstaff, but depending on the money on offer, it should be something the club consider as they eye long-term sustainability in the top flight.
