Manchester United are reportedly interested in a surprise deal to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff, but is he good enough for the Red Devils?

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie claims that Ole Gunnar Solskaer’s side are casting an eye over the Newcastle youngster.

Longstaff broke into the Newcastle squad on a regular basis earlier this season and showed real signs of promise.

His season was derailed with a long-term knee injury, that cut his campaign short.

Longstaff has certainly shown that he has a promising future ahead of him and he has been highly rated at Newcastle for some time.

Is he really what Manchester United need in their current state?

Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, you could make a case for it. The club appear to be heading back to the ‘United way’ of signing young players and developing them.

Whether Longstaff is enough sufficient quality, especially after so long out, to make an immediate impact at United remains to be seen, but snapping him up early could be good business for them in the long run.

Do you think Longstaff is good enough for Manchester United?
