Newcastle have already secured their goal for the season after confirming their place in the Premier League next year.
Rafa Benitez’s men are safe and comfortably in midtable heading into the final two matches of the season.
They now host a Liverpool side looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City are they fight for a Premier League title.
Newcastle were held by Brighton last time out, despite taking the lead, and Benitez will be hoping for an improved display if they are to get anything out of this match.
Liverpool have only lost once in the Premier League all season and sit one point behind Manchester City with two games to play.
Benitez has already played a small part in the title race this season after his side beat Manchester City 2-1 earlier this year – thanks to goals from Matt Ritchie and Salomon Rondon.
Here is how we predict Benitez to line Newcastle up against his former side this weekend…
No doubts over his place between the sticks for Newcastle. Dubravka has been exceptional this season and a top signing from last summer.
Manquillo has displaced DeAndre Yedlin from the side and has shown no signs of giving up his place. The Spaniard has been an important part of the side.
Lascelles should return to the side for this clash. The captain was missing last time out, but we predict him to make his way back into the team.
The Swiss defender has been superb this season and is a certain starter. He was also named as our Read Newcastle Player of the Season earlier this week.
We predict Fernandez to get the nod ahead of Paul Dummett for the third centre-back spot. The Argentine defender is a solid option at the back.
Ritchie has impressed at wing-back this season and could cause Liverpool problems. Paul Dummett could also challenge him for this spot, but we predict Ritchie to get the nod.
Hayden adds grit and steel to Newcastle’s midfield as he looks to break the play up and win the ball back. He was unfavoured at the start of the season but has worked his way back into Benitez’s thoughts.
We predict Ki to return to the starting XI ahead of Jonjo Shelvey for this one. Shelvey has missed large parts of the season with injury and Ki will be fresh coming into this game.
To make the team more compact defensively, we predict Diame to come in and make it a midfield three. Christian Atsu started against Brighton, but Diame offers more stability to the side.
Impossible to drop in current form. He has been sublime. Perez scored a hat-trick against Southampton recently and has found his goalscoring touch in 2019.
The on-loan striker has impressed this season, but it could be his last appearance at St. James’ Park if his deal is not made permanent. The powerful forward has scored 10 times this season.
