Newcastle Player Ratings: Leicester City (A)

Newcastle United secured a big 1-0 win at Leicester City to all but cement their Premier League status for another year.

These three points take the Magpies up to 13th in the Premier League table and 10 points clear of the relegation zone with only four games to play.

The win is made all the better by the fact that Leicester had won their last four games but had limited chances to score this evening.

Salomon Rondon came the closest in the opening stages after rattling the crossbar from a long-range free-kick.

The crucial goal came after half an hour as a Matt Ritchie cross was brilliantly diverted home by Ayoze Perez.

United’s game plan was working to great effect with the side well-organised, disciplined and dangerous on the counter-attack.

Despite being put under pressure in the latter stages of the game, Newcastle held firm to claim the points.
