Newcastle United have been playing rather well recently and appear to be pulling away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.
The Magpies have displayed character and resilience after overcoming a difficult spell, and Rafa Benitez’s men appear confident in their quest of avoiding the drop down to the Championship.
Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca arrived in January to add quality to the squad, but the summer transfer window will undoubtedly be one of great importance.
Newcastle have looked solid throughout but have not always displayed enough of a cutting edge in the final third. This could prompt them to pursue a new striker ahead of next season.
Salomon Rondon has impressed but is at the club only on loan. Beyond the Venezuelan, the Magpies have hardly inspired in attack.
So, take a look at a selection of attackers who Newcastle should consider moving for this summer!
Maupay has been excellent for Brentford in the Championship. He’d provide Newcastle with a different style of striker and would add a considerable goal threat. He’s ready to step up to the Premier League.
Babacar, who plays up front for Sassuolo, could provide Newcastle with more quality in the final third. After showing signs of class in Serie A, he could be a shrewd acquisition.
Simeone has not been in particularly inspiring form for Fiorentina this season but remains a gifted player. He plays positively, has good instincts and is an adept finisher. Benitez could rejuvenate him.
Austin does not suit Ralph Hasenhuttl’s style at Southampton. He is a poacher and has Premier League experience, making him a potential option for Newcastle in the summer.
Abraham, even on a loan deal, would be a smart signing for Newcastle. He’s scored 20 goals in the Championship for Aston Villa this season and would be an excellent addition for the Magpies, should they be able to lure him from Chelsea.
Inglese has been in good form for Parma this season. The Italian forward is dynamic, good at linking up play and capable of finding good positions in the box. He’d be a good signing for Newcastle.
