Tottenham, though, will present a difficult task for Newcastle. They have been unconvincing of late but delivered a 2-1 win of their own on Wednesday night against Watford.
Mohamed Diame remains sidelined but is nearing a return to fitness. Jonjo Shelvey, Rob Elliot, Ki Sung-yueng, and Paul Dummett are also all out of action.
Miguel Almiron arrived for a club-record transfer fee on deadline day but is not yet believed to be available for selection.

Dubravka is a mainstay for Benitez. He’ll start between the sticks.
Yedlin is poised to start on the right-hand side of a back five against Tottenham.
Schar will be determined to keep Spurs’ attacking threats at bay on Saturday.
Lascelles is set to operate as the middle centre-back in the defensive trio and will captain the team.
Lejeune is set to be the third central defender who starts at Wembley.
Barreca is ready to feature against Tottenham following his loan move from AS Monaco. He could start straight away at left wing-back.
Ritchie could move into a more familiar role on the right side of midfield following the signing of Barreca.
Hayden was exceptional against City and will retain his place in midfield, with Newcastle still short of fit and available options.
Longstaff has taken to Premier League football like a duck to water. He deserves to keep his place.
On the left, Atsu is likely to be preferred, with Ayoze Perez possibly dropping out. Benitez could favour pace on the break.
Leading the line, Rondon will be determined to continue his strong recent form.
