Newcastle could abandon plans to sign MLS star Miguel Almiron this month because of the player’s wage demands.
According to a report on talkSPORT, the player is asking for a deal worth a reported £100,000 a week, which Newcastle are not prepared to pay at this stage.
Almiron looked set to arrive at the club this month after impressing in the MLS.

The Magpies had seen off interest from the likes of Arsenal and West Ham, with a Premier League move looking likely.
A move for Almiron has been dragging out for some time, but it is believed that the MLS outfit value the player at close to £25 million, which would be a significant investment, with Rafa Benitez likely to be once again working on small budgets.
Almiron has been one of the standout players in the MLS and is expected to secure a big European move in the near future, but it remains to be seen if that will be with Newcastle.
