Newcastle have reportedly made an offer to sign Empoli midfielder Miha Zajc, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 24-year-old midfielder plays his football in the top flight of Italian football, and has made over 18 appearances so far this season.
The report states that Zajc could pack his bags soon from Empoli, meaning that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
Zajc has been limited to substitute appearances and is looking for a way out of Empoli, who sit 17th in Serie A.
Jaka Lucu, who is the agent of the midfielder, spoke to Tuttomercatoweb on Saturday and claimed two English sides were interested in the Empoli man.
It is true that at least two Premier League clubs have shown interest in Miha. The profile of a player like him in England is increasingly sought after because he brings unconventional solutions and added value to the team. In my opinion, the speed with which Miha perceives football is ideal for the Premier League. But the market has just begun.
The midfielder could be on his way to St James Park, if reports are to be believed.
