Newcastle United linked with a move for Miha Zajc
Newcastle United have reportedly established an interest in signing Miha Zajc from Empoli.
According to claims from Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the Magpies are interested in clinching a cut-price deal for the midfielder, who has caught the eye in Serie A this season.
Rafa Benitez is understood to be keen on adding to his creative options in the January transfer window as he bids to continue pushing his side away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Zajc has emerged as a key player for Empoli in recent times and is a fully-fledged international for Slovenia.
The 24-year-old has found the net on two occasions in the top-flight of Italian football this season and has also contributed with as many assists for his side, who sit in 17th place.
It is reported by Calciomercato that potential suitors, including Newcastle and Huddersfield Town, could tie up a deal to sign the midfielder for no more than €6 million this month.
