According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have joined the race for former Tottenham Hotspur striker Clinton N’Jie.

N’Jie, who currently plies his trade with French outfit Marseille, is available this month on loan with view to a permanent deal, with fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Burnley and Cardiff also keen on the forward.

The 25-year-old, who joined Tottenham in 2015 from Lyon, made 14 appearances for Spurs before moving to Marseille following a successful loan spell.

The Cameroon international forward has since enjoyed two successful seasons with Marseille, however, the striker has featured just nine times during the current campaign, scoring his only goal in a 4-2 defeat to Lyon.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is desperate to add to his squad this month, especially in an attacking sense, with the Magpies managing just 15 goals in their 21 Premier League fixtures so far.

And with N’Jie available on an original loan move, Benitez may well look to bring in the striker who has previous Premier League experience.
