# Huddersfield make approach for Murphy

Huddersfield have shown an interest in signing Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy on loan until the end of the season.

[According to The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/huddersfield-ready-make-loan-bid-13802234), Huddersfield have made an approach to Newcastle as they look to strike a deal for the forward.

The report claims that Championship side Derby County are also interested, although they are yet to make a formal offer.

Murphy looks set to leave Newcastle on loan this month after having been left in the reserves for the majority of the season so far.

The 23-year-old has only started three Premier League games this season, with a further five appearances in the league off the bench – mustering one assist in that time.

He scored once in 25 Premier League games last season, following his £12m move from Norwich.

Murphy came through the youth ranks at Norwich and had his breakthrough campaign in the 2016/17 season.

In 32 Championship starts he managed to score nine and assist six as he impressed for the Canaries, prompting a move to Newcastle.
