Newcastle have been told that they have to pay around £23 million if they want to sign Miguel Almiron in January.
The Guardian’s Ed Aarons states that no official bid has been lodged from Newcastle, despite previous reports suggesting a deal to bring the Paraguayan in is close.
Talks over a deal that will see the player move to the Premier League are believed to be ongoing, with Rafa Benitez hoping to reach some agreement.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Atlanta playmaker, but they are facing competition from Premier League rivals West Ham.

Arsenal had been linked previously, but now appear to have cooled their interest in the player.
The Magpies are hoping that they can strengthen in January in their bid to once again stay in the Premier League.
A recent run of form has pulled them away from the bottom three, but the signing of Almiron would also be a huge boost for the club.
